Over the last few months, we’ve been busy looking to the future here at Simon on the Streets, and our team is growing!

In this week’s blog, we’re asking you to give a warm welcome to two new team members, our new Senior Fundraiser, Andy Sharpe, and our Fundraising Assistant, Dan Taylor. The growth of our team signals a real push when it comes to our already busy fundraising calendar, as we continue to support those facing homelessness.

Now without further ado, let’s get to meet Andy and Dan and find out a little more about them.

Andy Sharpe - an outstanding fundraiser

For the past 13 years, Andy has built up a wealth of fundraising knowledge and experience in both a professional and voluntary capacity.

Through his voluntary efforts alone, Andy has raised over £100,000 for various charities, all whilst working as a project manager for the property company Shellbourne Properties.

In May 2023, Andy’s achievements were recognised with an invitation to the King’s Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace. We can’t think of anyone more deserving of the honour. It’s hard to put into words the kind of difference this amount of money, and this amount of dedication can make to people’s lives.

Andy made the decision to make fundraising his full time career in 2021. He successfully completed a fundraising diploma with the Chartered Institute of Fundraising, and spent 18 months with St George’s Crypt as an Events and Community Fundraiser. Now, we can’t wait for everything he can bring to Simon on the Streets and the people we support. He tells us that he looks forward to creating strong partnerships across Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield, as this really is key when it comes to helping people transform their lives.

In Andy’s words:

“I feel privileged to bring my experience and passion for fundraising to Simon on the Streets and join a brilliant team. A team that strives to support those facing homelessness and who need our help”.

Away from work, Andy enjoys football and participating in various challenge events to raise money for charity.

Dan Taylor  - dedicated to making a difference

A recent graduate in History from the University of Leeds, Dan has joined our team as a Fundraising Assistant.

With plenty of experience in administration due his time working with the NHS, Dan’s always had a keen interest in charity fundraising. As well as participating in a sponsored charity boxing match, Dan’s also helped to organise various other raisers, including a club night and gaming tournament for Simon on the Streets during his time at university.

Dan really has thrown himself into his new role, and we’re looking forward to seeing what the future holds.

Here at Simon on the Streets, we’re very proud of our team. Keep your eyes peeled for all things fundraising from Andy and Dan, and details of our upcoming events. And if you’ve got any ideas of your own, why not get in touch? You can connect with us on LinkedIn and follow us across our social media channels. We’re always happy to hear from you and support your efforts.
