Our fundraisers play a vital role when it comes to the work we do here at Simon on the Streets. For the past year, we've been working with Let's Market, who have really helped us to get our events and fundraising off the ground. Now, we're looking to build our very fundraising team to carry on the incredible momentum.
Having dedicated fundraisers will help us to build on our platform of support, unite people through a shared vision, and raise much-needed funds and crucial awareness to help us break the cycle of homelessness.
As we come to the end of our fundraising recruitment drive, take a look to learn more about what we've learned about the merits of being a fundraiser, and how we're looking to the future.
Constant growth
One of the most incredible things about our fundraising efforts is that our network of supporters is constantly growing. As a result, we’ve got a real community of individuals, businesses and volunteers that we can rely on.
Being a fundraiser is a very social role. It involves getting out there and meeting people, building connections and continuing positive conversations about how we can help those facing homelessness. Fundraisers help to widen our network, and are always encouraging others to join us at our events, to join us as corporate partners, or to encourage people in making donations.
A great use of skills
Successful, and meaningful, fundraising takes skill. Time management, the ability to work with others, and a passion for the cause may be obvious, but they’re really important skills that no fundraiser can be without. Add to that the ability to deal with the fundraising practicalities such as coordinating events, sourcing venues and liaising with lots of new people across multiple industries, and it’s easy to see why it’s a full time job.
Creativity is also a valuable skill to have, as when it comes to raising money, the sky really is the limit. When faced with challenges like Covid-19, thinking outside the box and problem-solving are crucial to overcoming challenges, and bouncing ideas around with the team encourages creativity and new initiatives to help us move forward as a charity.
Personal development and wellbeing
Being part of a fundraising team is immensely rewarding, especially when it’s for a cause you’re passionate about. Here at Simon on the Streets, we're full of enthusiasm and dedication, and this really shines through in everything we do.
There’s no doubt about it, fundraising opens the door for immense personal development. There are opportunities to learn from others, and times when you’re sharing your own knowledge and skills - all of which helps to grow a strong and successful team. It’s a two-way street.
If you’re passionate about helping others, and you want to help us to raise funds and awareness for those facing homelessness, why not take a look at some of the opportunities here at Simon on the Streets?
