I have officially been supporting & volunteering for Simon On The Streets for over a year.
Prior to becoming a volunteer I was an employee of Simon On The Streets so I have seen first-hand how vital the work Simon On The Streets is, because of the great work they do and how engaging the team is, both the outreach team and the office team, it made me want to continue supporting the charity where I can.
During my time volunteering it has being a great experience and an honour to represent Simon On The Streets, whilst I mainly volunteer at their events like the Diamond Ball or Sleep Out, they’ve both been enjoyable and it’s always great to see other people get involved with the charity whether it’s taking part in those events, hosting their own fundraising events or supporting in their own unique way.
The rough diamond ball is always interesting, whilst I’m not a big fan of dressing up for an occasion, taking part in the ball was a fun experience and also an emotional one listing to a former service user's story. The event ran smoothly and was lovely seeing fellow volunteers, staff and trustee’s at the event.
The Sleepout was a cold but enjoyable experience, whilst I was unable to stay the full duration of the previous 2018 sleepout I’m glad I was able to for this one, It was a great night and well organised and was nice to seeing a lot of people take part and collectively raise over £26,000!
I am looking forward to continuing volunteering for SOTS and also do more fundraising for the charity and help raise funds for to support those in need.
