Hi I’m Matt Ellis, I’m 45 and I’m a member of the Abbey Runners club.

Every year the Abbey Runners club takes part in the Eccup 10 mile race and we nominate a different charity every year to raise money for and in 2020, Simon on the Streets was our nominated charity for the race. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 the race was cancelled but I did not want Simon on the Streets to miss out on our funds raised, so I had to come up with something whilst adhering to the Covid-19 regulations.

Me and my fellow Abby Runners Duncan Clark and Tom Rogerson decided to take on all 9 park runs throughout Leeds in one day. On the 23rd August at 8am we ran the park run in Roundhay Park, Potternewton, Temple Newsam, Rothwell, Middleton Park, Cross Flatts Bramley, Armley and then finished at Woodhouse Moor finishing at 4pm.

After completing the park runs, I felt an amazing sense of accomplishment and I was really blown away at how we managed to raise a brilliant £1,200 for Simon on the Streets.
